GAME JAMS & PROJECTS

Before and sometimes beyond my professional work, I love to take part in game jams and side projects. These projects are mostly from my university era and hopefully showcase my ability to rapidly design, prototype, and have fun exploring concepts outside of the studio environment.

DICE OR DIE

Global Game Jam 2023

DICE OR DIE is a turn based rouge lite dice battler, made for the 48 hour Global Game Jam 2023. It was made as a team of five. I was part of the design team and responsible for programming the game in Unreal 5 and helped with some of the pixel art.

GRIMTERNSHIP

Game Pitch Prototype

GRIMTERNSHIP is a ultra difficult movement platformer. It's about working for the grim reaper collecting plague victims.

 

It was made as a university project built as a demo for a indie game business pitch. We worked as a team of three and delivered the prototype in a week. I was personally responsible for all the animations, level design, and helped program parts of the game in Unreal 5. I also delivered the pitch documentation.

SHORK

University Game Jam

SHORK is a boomer shooter about shooting mutant sharks with a harpoon to chain explode them for high score. It was made in Unreal Engine 4 as a team of five. It was made in 72 hours and I was responsible for programming the game, the shark animations + effects and audio.

SUNSET DRIFTER

Personal Project

SUNSET DRIFTER is a kinematic arcade racer built in five days. This was a technical demo that focused on: building race mechanics from scratch without Unreal 5 physics, race track design, high intensity gameplay feel. This was a solo project and I was responsible for everything apart from the music.

BARUM 383

Final Major Project

BARUM 383 is a 4X turn based an real time RTS built in about 5 months as my final project in university. The project was a solo Unreal 5 project and was aimed to be a technical demonstration and exploration of strategy game systems. The game lets you play as three different factions on a world map, fighting battles, researching technologies and colonising worlds. I collaborated with some artists on parts of this project.

NINE TO THRIVE

Global Game Jam 2024

NINE TO THRIVE is a satirical game about cheering up your co-workers by pulling pranks on them in the office. It was made for the 48 hour Global Game Jam 2024. It was built in Unreal Engine 5 as a team of four. I was responsible for programming the game and was part of the design team. 

SPLATMAN

Early University Project

SPLATMAN is a difficult platformer based around paint. It was an early university game jam project built in Unreal Engine 4 and built just by myself. It's one of the first three games I ever made
